Assad and Zahra were confiscated by the Webb County Sheriff’s Department and Texas Parks & Wildlife officers. Their owners did not have the proper permits to own them. They were living in a cage in a barren field, with no human habitation in sight. They had no platforms, no pools, no toys, no enrichment of any kind. We were told the animals didn’t even have names. We picked them up, and also transported the two bears from the same place to the Frank Buck Zoo, at the request of Texas Parks & Wildlife. Assad seems a little nervous with the change, but is already starting to settle in. He really enjoys hanging out on the waterfall in his new playground, and going through the tunnel!
