She was used at exhibits such as Six Flags Over Texas and the Mesquite Rodeo – For $25 you could have your picture taken with her.

Kaiya, her sister Iona and her friend Sultan were purchased from an unknown breeding facility by the owner of an entertainment facility here in Texas. Kaiya had been dragged all over the country to make money for the facility in which she lived.

As Kaiya got bigger and more aggressive, she was no longer useful so this facility set out to relocate her to a new home. Since we were looking for a playmate for a young tiger we had, we offered to take the three young tigers with the intention of keeping one and relocating the other two to another reputable facility. However, the plans fell through, so all three tigers now call In-Sync home. Kaiya is blind in her left eye which is darker in color than her right eye.

We don’t know what happened to her eye only that she has a scar that extends across her nose coming from the corner of that eye.

Because her other eye is crossed it’s sometimes difficult to tell what she’s looking at since she seems to be looking about 10 feet to the left. When we questioned the previous owner as to what may have happened to her, the reply was that he just didn’t know. Kaiya’s vision problems don’t seem to bother her at all. She is very active and loves to play. Her favorite place is in the water. She takes every toy, chicken treat, and almost every bone into the water. Kaiya is also more aggressive towards her food than most of our other cats. She will always be the first in line at feeding time.

We love having Kaiya as part of our family and hope she always has that energetic, never-tiring attitude.
